3-day Masterclass Portrait in Charcoal 

Judith Steenkamer gives a 3-day Masterclass Portrait in Charcoal, from February 17 to 19, 2022.

Structure of the Masterclass

During the masterclass we will draw a portrait with charcoal. Charcoal is a bonusThis is a great medium with which you can achieve beautiful realistic effects.

The portrait is constructed in three days and you learn the principles of drawing with charcoal. Everyone will draw the same portrait (the reference is a photo), so everyone can learn from each other.

The masterclass starts with an explanation of the materials; the different types of charcoal, eraser, different types of paper and white pencil. We use charcoal from the Nitram brand.

During this masterclass, Judith shows examples of different styles for which charcoal is suitable, to give an impression of the versatility of this medium. Here it becomes clear that charcoal is suitable for both coarse, expressionistic drawings and very detailed, lifelike drawings.

During the masterclass portrait in charcoal, demonstrations will be given, and fragments of videos will also be viewed where contemporary artists draw a portrait with charcoal. This is to get the broadest possible picture of how to handle this material.

At the end of the masterclass it will be demonstrated how to fix a charcoal drawing and how to transport and ship it.

Cost

The 3-day masterclass is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. including  all materials, lunch, tea and coffee.It is therefore not necessary to bring your own material for the masterclass.The costs are €535, including VAT (excluding any overnight costs)
Masterclass ''Portrait in charcoal'' by Judith Steenkamer is a wonderful opportunity to master drawing with charcoal and to receive lessons from this internationally renowned artist.

The 3-day Masterclass will take place on the above date, depending on the number of registrations. If the Masterclass does not take place due to Covid-19 measures, the date will be rescheduled or the tuition fee will be refunded.
